Judith ‘Judy’ Veldboom Joles Locke

Judith “Judy” Veldboom Joles Locke, age 77, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, Feb. 21, 2022. She passed at home after a long illness. Judy was born on October 9, 1944, in Sheboygan, Wis., to the late Ellsworth and Joyce (Marthenze) Veldboom, the oldest of three daughters.

The family later moved to Janesville, Wis., where she married Jerry Joles and had four children together. They moved to Racine, Wis., and Mukwonago, Wis., where she worked at Clarendon School. She later married James Locke in Wausau and later moved to Tomahawk. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were most important to Judy. She never met an animal she didn’t like. Judy was very creative and had a special talent for decorating. She was an avid doll collector and loved nothing better than going out on the boat and fishing. Many memorable camping trips were made when the kids were young.

Judy is survived by her husband, James Locke; daughters, Cheri (Tim) Krause, of Middleton, WIis., Tracy Drill, of Madison, Wis., Wendy (Mike) Kraemer, of Medford, Wis., Scott (Tara) Joles, of Wisconsin Dells, Wis., and sister, Debra (Matt) Mills, of Mequon, Wis. She is further survived by 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellsworth and Joyce; sister, Joan Veldboom; newborn son, Christopher Joles; and grandson, Nicholas Krause.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Lincoln County Humane Society in her name.
