Taste of Tomahawk returns after two-year hiatus

For the Tomahawk Leader

TOMAHAWK – After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Taste of Tomahawk was held at Inshalla Country Club on Saturday, March 19.

Tomahawk Regional Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sherry Hulett said there was much excitement with the event returning this year, which marked its 17th iteration.

Local vendors provided samples of food, beer and wine at the event. The “Best Beer” award was voted on by attendees and ultimately went to Rhinelander Brewing Company for their Hard Root Beer. The “Best Wine” honor was awarded to first-time attendee Lil Ole Winemaker Shoppe from Wausau for their Peach Raspberry Sangria.

“Attendees were decked out in their favorite tie-dye and bell-bottoms, as the theme was ‘Happy & Groovy’ from the ’60s and ’70s,” the Chamber said. “Vendors also got in the mood with their attire and table decorations.”

Hulett said Taste of Tomahawk is historically one of the Chamber’s best annual fundraising events and was sadly missed the past two years.

“Taste 2022 could not have been successful without the assistance of Chamber staff, local volunteers, and vendors,” Hulett stated.

Along with Rhinelander Brewery and Lil Ole Winemaker Shoppe, other vendors included Boulangerie, Cherie’s Sweet Sensations, El Jovenaso #2, Fun Factory Sweet Shoppe, Lakeside Bistro, Lift Bridge Brewing Co., Kwik Trip, The Cheese Shoppe, Three Lakes Winery, Tomahawk Foods, Trig’s, What’s Brewin’, and Woodland Trail Winery.

Hulett noted that Zastrow the Beer Man, Lee Beverage of Wisconsin and Fabiano Brothers all featured an assortment of beers and hard seltzers.

“Musician Doug Kroening of Marshfield sang and played some far-out tunes in the beer room, and local artist Jeff Calhoun of STORM played acoustic guitar in the wine room to the delight of all,” she added.

The Chamber also held a 50/50 raffle, a silent auction and a wine pull, along with the music, drink, and food.

The highlight of the silent auction was the 2021 Collector Series football donated by the Green Bay Packers organization, the Chamber said.
