Hockey: Tomahawk edged by Rhinelander to end season

For the Tomahawk Leader

RHINELANDER – The Tomahawk Hatchet hockey team traveled to Rhinelander on Thursday, Feb. 17 and fell in a tight game by a score of 5-4, marking the end of the Hatchets’ season.

Head coach Chris Bembinster said there was one small stint in the game that the Hatchets wish they could have back, “but it proved to be too much to overcome.”

Although the Hatchets lost the game, they nearly overcame the deficit, Bembinster noted.

“This group has done some amazing things throughout this year,” he stated. “How they have adapted and handled adversity was better with every game. The willingness to work hard and get better every day was fun for us coaches to be around.”

Bembinster added that the team “proved to everyone this year that we could compete and never give up for the whole 51 minutes.”

“This will be a team that I will remember for a long time to come,” he said. “A big thanks to the coaches and the players for a great season.”
