TOMAHAWK – Current Tomahawk Middle School Principal Wendell Quesinberry is officially set to become the School District of Tomahawk’s next Administrator.

The district’s Board of Education approved Quesinberry’s contract during its meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 8.

Quesinberry will begin in his new role on July 1.

The final approval of Quesinberry’s contract concludes a months-long process to replace former Administrator Terry Reynolds.

In Aug. 2021, Reynolds informed the board that he planned to retire at the end of the 2021-2022 school year. Later that month, the board accepted Reynolds’ “immediate voluntary retirement.”

Days after accepting Reynolds’ retirement, the board announced that it would seek an “external, interim candidate” to fill the role vacated by Reynolds. On Sept. 15, 2021, the board announced that it had hired Joe Innis to serve as the district’s Interim Administrator, a position he had filled in 2015 prior to Reynolds’ hire, while the board searched for a permanent candidate.

On Jan. 21, 2022, the board said that it had narrowed its candidate pool to Quesinberry and Mosinee High School Principal Dr. Nathan Lehman. One week later, the board announced that it had officially offered the position to Quesinberry.

Innis said he thought the board “made a great choice” in selecting Quesinberry for the position.

“(The board) did a thorough search and hired someone who lives in the district, is committed to the district and who will do his best to move the school district forward,” Innis stated. “I look forward to working with Wendell over the next few months to make the transition as seamless as possible”

Quesinberry said he is “honored and grateful to have the opportunity to serve the School District of Tomahawk staff, students, and families as the next superintendent.”

“To share this commitment with a community that means so much to me and my family is incredibly exciting,” he stated. “I will work tirelessly to strengthen our partnerships with all those dedicated to helping our students grow and learn at high levels. I look forward to fulfilling my role in improving the overall student experience, as well as the connection between our community and its school.”
