Tomahawk Chamber Ambassadors welcome French bakery Boulangerie to community

For the Tomahawk Leader

TOMAHAWK – The Tomahawk Regional Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors held a ribbon cutting ceremony at French bakery Boulangerie, located at 114 W. Wisconsin Ave., during the bakery’s Grand Opening on Tuesday, Feb. 8.

Ambassadors President Diane Timms and Chamber Executive Director Sherry Hulett were on hand while Boulangerie owners Kallijah Paraska and Phil Segami cut the ribbon. Paraska and Segami were also presented with a certificate officially welcoming them to the Tomahawk business community.

The Chamber said Paraska is originally from Phillips and moved to Seattle 40 years ago for her career. She and her husband, Phil, decided to move back to the Northwoods and selected Tomahawk, as her dad and two brothers live here.

“She also recalls the fondest memories of turning on County Road U and what is now County Road A to go through downtown and out of County Road S to Highway 51 to Wausau, before the bypass,” the Chamber stated.

Paraska said she chose to open a French bakery because she didn’t want to give up the French pastries or European-style coffee and atmosphere of a bakery she enjoyed while in Seattle.

“Therefore, they took training while in Seattle and through Rouxbe to learn the trade,” The Chamber stated.

Paraska and Segami said they want to give Tomahawk a delicious taste of what they enjoyed for many years.

“Downtown Tomahawk and our building, built in 1895, are just the perfect fit for this atmosphere,” they noted.

Paraska is delighted to bring a little touch of European flavor to the main street of Tomahawk.

“Fresh loaves of bread, fruit pastries, and robust coffees are just part of the offerings made by hand,” the Chamber said. “There is a savory side of the business that complements the sweets.”

Boulangerie will also offer fresh salads and sandwiches.

A portion of Boulangerie’s first week of profits will benefit the Tomahawk Regional Historical Society, the Chamber said.
