Middle school grapplers compete in Marathon scramble, CWWC tournament in Merrill

TOMAHAWK – Last week, the Tomahawk Hatchet middle school grapplers competed in Marathon and Merrill.

The Hatchets traveled to Marathon on Monday, Jan. 24 to compete in a seven-team scramble. Participating teams were Marathon, Merrill, Stratford, Stevens Point, Tomahawk, and Tri-County. No team scores were kept.

The following wrestlers came away with at least one victory last night: Judah Alberg, Hudson Evans, Skylar Harper-Dahlvig, Walter Horabik, Kaiden Kapellusch, Cash Olsen, Bradyn Ristau, and Zander Zehner.

CWWC tournament

Tomahawk were in Merrill on Friday, Jan. 28 for the CWWC Conference tournament, where the Hatchets wrestled well.

The team’s place winners were Cash Olsen in second place and Masen Towle in fifth.

Also winning matches, but not placing, were Hudson Evans, Kaiden Kapellusch, Bradyn Ristau and Zander Zehner.

There was also a four-man round robin tournament held for wrestlers not entered into the conference tournament. Hatchet place winners in that tournament were Aiden Cruz, Skyler Harper-Dahlvig, Colton McMeekin and Uriyah Tebeau, earning second place.

Every Hatchet who wrestled won at least one match.

The next meet for the Hatchet middle school grapplers will be on Thursday, Feb. 3 at Crandon High School. The meet is set to begin at 4:15 p.m.
