‘Pink the Rink’ fundraiser at SARA Park to raise money for breast cancer awareness

For the Tomahawk Leader

TOMAHAWK – The Tomahawk Hatchet hockey team will host a fundraiser next week in an effort to raise money for a member of the Hatchet hockey family who was recently diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer.

The “Pink the Rink” fundraiser will be held on Thursday, Jan. 20, at SARA Park, 900 W. Somo Ave., Tomahawk, during the Hatchets’ game against Chequamegon .

Jennifer Black, board member of Wa Wui, the non-profit managing group for SARA Park Ice Arena, said the group is organizing “Pink the Rink” to “increase breast cancer awareness, raise money for the family and to remind everyone that in this community, no one fights alone.”

“There will be sucker pulls for the kids, along with chuck-a-puck, miracle minute donation bucket pass and amazing basket raffles from so many incredible donors,” Black stated. “In addition, all proceeds from concession sales and admissions will go to the family as well. We are encouraging everyone to come on out, fill the stands with pink, cheer on our Hatchets, and raise money to support an amazing family.”

Black noted that opening puck drop is at 6:30 p.m., so fans are encouraged to arrive early to go through the raffles and get a seat for the game.

Due to an anticipated increased attendance for the event, entry will be through the Bingo hall.
