Nancy J. Diaz

Nancy J. Diaz, 82, of Irma, passed away Monday, Dec. 20, 2021 at Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital.

Nancy was born Sept. 4, 1939 in Joliet, Ill., to Arthur and Agnes (Berglund) Ahrens. She married Daniel R. Diaz Sr. on May 5, 1962 in Lemont, Ill. He passed away in 1999. Nancy had worked for several school districts in Illinois and Wisconsin, including CESA 9 in Tomahawk for 12 years. She and her husband had been summer residents of the Silver Lake area since 1972 and moved here permanently in 1986. Nancy enjoyed living at her home on Silver Lake, quilting, paddle boat rides, and spending time with her grandchildren. She and her husband Daniel enjoyed sharing their lake home with neighbors, friends and family, whom they always made welcome. She had also been a member of the Tomahawk Stitchers, where she enjoyed hosting retreats in her home.

Surviving Nancy Diaz are her three sons – Daniel (Kathleen) Diaz, Jr. of Lena, Ill., Brian (Doris) Diaz and Richard (Josephine) Diaz, all of Belleville, Wis. She is also survived by a sister – Carole Sekera, Wheaton, Ill.; a brother – Bill Ahrens, Pearson, Wis.; nine grandchildren – Rachel (Chad) Hornung, Nicholas Wienand, Alyssa (Mark) Krizic, Zachary (Tracy Van) Diaz, Emily Diaz, Lukas Diaz, Krista Diaz, Gianna Diaz and Tony Diaz; and eight great-grandchildren – Madelyn Collier, Jacob Collier, Sydney Krizic, Cecilia Krizic, Nicholas Krizic, Mark Anthony Krizic, Drew Hornung, Gabby Hornung.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband –  Dan, and an infant son – Michael.

Funeral Services for Nancy Diaz took place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021 at Grace Lutheran Church. The family received friends at the church from 10 a.m.  until the time of services at 11 a.m. Pastor Susan Christian officiated. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in the Town of Skanawan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Tomahawk Aspirus Hospital Foundation, Grace Lutheran Church or Tomahawk EMS would be appreciated.
