No injuries reported in Town of Corning house fire

TOWN OF CORNING – No injuries were reported after a house fire in the Town of Corning on Saturday, Dec. 11.

According to a release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 6:34 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office, Town of Corning Fire Department and Merrill EMS responded to a report of a house fire on Midway Rd., just north of County Rd. M, in the Town of Corning.

The house was fully engulfed in flames upon arrival, the Sheriff’s Office said. The home’s two occupants were able to evacuate the residence uninjured.

“As a result of an on scene investigation, it was discovered that a water heater began to smoke and flames began to come out of it,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “The occupants attempted to use a fire extinguisher to extinguish the flames, but were unsuccessful. It was at that time that the occupants left the house and called 911.”

Agencies assisting with the incident were the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Corning Fire Department, Merrill Fire Department, Merrill EMS, and Town of Hamburg Fire Department.
