For the Tomahawk Leader
MERRILL – A Merrill man is facing six felony child sexual assault charges.
Anthony S. Williams, 44, of Merrill, is charged with four felony counts of 1st degree child sexual assault – intercourse with person under 12 and two felony counts of 1st degree child sexual assault – sexual contact with person under age of 13. All six counts include a modifier as a “repeater,” according to court records.
The charges were filed in Lincoln County on Nov. 4, 2021.
A criminal complaint cites three separate victims, who are all related to Williams, and stems from incidents that the victims said occurred between 2010 and 2015, when the victims were young minors, alleging Williams had intercourse with the children at several different locations within the City of Merrill during that timeframe. According to the complaint, some of the victims were as young as four and five years of age when the assaults occurred.
According to court records, Williams has numerous charges and convictions dating back more than 20 years, including a conviction for 3rd degree sexual assault on June 28, 2000, with a habitual criminality modifier, stemming from charges filed on Sept. 9, 1999. He was also convicted of a Sex Offender Registry violation for failure to report a change of address in Jan. 2010.
Williams is scheduled to make his initial appearance in Lincoln County court on Dec. 23 at 1:30 p.m.
Each count carries with it a maximum sentence of 60 years in prison, plus up to six additional years per count due to the “repeater” modifier.
