Yevgeniya Kim

Yevgeniya Kim, age 60, died on Nov. 1, 2021 in Almaty, Kazakhstan after a short battle with COVID-19. Burial took place in Almaty the following day at Burunday Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Viktor, a sister, Nadezhda, two daughters, Galina and Yekaterina (Eric Hesse), and one grandson, Dmitriy.

Yevgeniya was the daughter of Boris and Rimma Kim, who are both deceased. She was born in Uzbekistan and met her husband in Taraz, Kazakhstan. After her marriage to Viktor, she and her family moved to Kokshetau, Kazakhstan. When she was advised by a physician to seek a more peaceful life due to health issues, she and her family moved to Zerenda, Kazakhstan, where they bought a house and raised their two daughters. She worked as an accountant for the region’s Department of Education and her husband worked as a security guard for a local school.

Yevgeniya loved working with people and she loved nature. In her free time she enjoyed biking, playing ping pong and traveling.

A memorial service and celebration of life was held on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 10 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Tomahawk, Wis., officiated by Pastor Julie Barger. The service was video streamed so that family members in Kazakhstan may view the service online.

As insurance for final arrangements is not customary in Kazakhstan, contributions may be made to Yekaterina Martynova for the benefit of her family back home.
