TOMAHAWK – A post on the City of Tomahawk’s Facebook page this week reminded residents not to rake leaves into the streets.

“Raking leaves into the street increases pollution of storm water, may cause flooding by blocking drainage structures, and most importantly, piles of leaves are a dangerous attraction to young children,” the post stated.

The City noted that placing yard waste in the road itself is a violation of City ordinances, and residents who do so will be subject to collection fees and/or fines.

“Public Works staff will be recording and contacting resident(s) to correct the issue,” the post said.
