Teen killed in Town of Rock Falls car accident

TOWN OF ROCK FALLS – A teen died in a car accident in the Town of Rock Falls on Thursday, Sept. 30, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call was received from the Lincoln County Highway Department at 7:25 a.m. reporting a one-vehicle crash on State Rd. 107 near Tug Lake Ave.

“The vehicle was reported to have left the road and collided with a number of trees,” the Sheriff’s Office stated. “The driver of the vehicle was reported to be unresponsive.”

The victim, identified as Owen T. Cordova, 16, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lincoln County Fire and EMS, Lincoln County Coroner Paul C. Proulx and the Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office said speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
