Hatchets rush for 300+ yards in big road win over Menominee Indian

KESHENA – The Tomahawk Hatchet football team traveled to Keshena, Wis., to take on Menominee Indian on Friday Sept. 24, where the Hatchets rushed for over 300 yards on their way to a big 41-14 win.
Tomahawk struck first, taking a 7-0 lead off a 24-yard touchdown run by Gavyn Palmer. The Hatchets added another rushing touchdown before the quarter ended, this time by Mason Evans, extending their lead to 14-0.
After Tomahawk downed a high snap on an Eagle punt on the Menominee Indian 10-yard line, quarterback Tyler Jablonski ran for a touchdown, putting the Hatchets up 20-0.
Menominee Indian would tack on two touchdowns in the third quarter while holding the Hatchets scoreless, bringing the score to 20-14.
However, the Hatchets had some scoring of their own left to do, starting with a 19-yard touchdown run by Evans in the fourth quarter.
28- and 31-yard touchdown runs by Jablonski and Logan Bishop, respectively, put the game out of reach for the Eagles, and Tomahawk came away with the 41-14 victory.
The Hatchets tallied 305 rushing yards in the lopsided win. Evans led Tomahawk’s ground attack, racking up 161 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries. Jablonski and Bishop had nearly identical rushing stats, with Jablonski rushing for 68 yards and a touchdown on nine attempts and Bishop rushing for 69 yards and a touchdown on ten attempts.
Jake Kaminski hauled in three catches for 37 yards.
Caleb Dickens had three sacks, while Kyle Norman and Ryan Dietrich each had one.
Tomahawk will host Northern Elite at Hatchet Field for a Homecoming game on Friday, Oct. 1, with kickoff at 7 p.m.
