TOWN OF HAZELHURST – A man was killed in a car accident in the Town of Hazelhurst on Wednesday, Sept. 22, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office said.
According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call was received at approximately 6:37 p.m. reporting a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. Highway 51 and County Road D in the Town of Hazelhurst.
The Sheriff’s Office said, according to findings from preliminary investigation, a 1973 Opel Classic two-door sedan operated by Arnold P. Wiesener, 68, of Hazelhurst, was traveling westbound on County Highway D when it entered the intersection of U.S. Highway 51 and was struck by a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck traveling southbound.
Wiesener was pronounced dead at the scene. The male operator of the pickup truck was not identified by the Sheriff’s Office.
The State Patrol Reconstruction Team, Hazelhurst Fire, Cassian Fire, Minocqua Fire, Little Rice Fire, Oneida County Ambulance and the Oneida County Highway Department assisted the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
