Coleman Cougars shutout Tomahawk at Hatchet Field

TOMAHAWK – The Tomahawk Hatchet football team took on the Coleman Cougars at Hatchet Field on Friday, Sept. 17, and fell by a shutout score of 32 to 0.

Coleman would notch one touchdown in each quarter, beginning in the first with an interception returned for a 38-yard touchdown, making the score 8 to 0.

In the second quarter, Hatchet offsides penalty on third down gave the Cougars a first down. Coleman took advantage with a 53-yard touchdown run to double their lead, 16 to 0.

Another big run by Coleman set up Coleman for a one-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, extending their lead over the Hatchets to 24 to 0.

The Cougars’ final score of the night, and 18-yard touchdown run, came in the fourth quarter, making the score 32 to 0, which would be the final score.

Hatchet quarterback Tyler Jablonski completed 19 passes on 36 attempts for 156 yards, throwing three interceptions. Mason Evans tallied 34 yards on the ground on four attempts, while Jake Kaminski led the Hatchets in receiving with eight catches for 69 yards. Evans also had eight tackles, leading the team.

The Hatchets will hit the road this week, traveling to Menominee to take on Menominee Indian on Friday, Sept. 24. Kickoff is at 4 p.m.
