TEAPIE seeking local businesses’ participation in 10th annual Careers on Wheels event

For the Tomahawk Leader

TOMAHAWK – Tomahawk Extended Area Partners in Education (TEAPIE) will hold its 10th annual Careers on Wheels event next month, and the organization is seeking the participation of local businesses.

The event will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, at Tomahawk Elementary School, 1048 E. King Rd., Tomahawk. There will be no rain date for this year’s event.

“Careers on Wheels is an event where children learn about different types of careers involving vehicles,” TEAPIE explained in a release. “We feel it is important to expose children of all ages to different careers. Careers on Wheels will allow kids to see the vehicles up close and personal, talk to the professionals, and have fun while doing it.”

TEAPIE said it is inviting businesses to “bring hands-on experiences” to the event.

The organization explained that roughly 100 Tomahawk 5th graders will be in attendance. The students will be divided into groups and will visit every business’s station for 10 to 15 minutes, giving businesses the opportunity to explain what they do and how vehicles and equipment are used on the job.

“If possible and safe, allow the kids to handle your business equipment and sit inside your vehicle,” TEAPIE stated.

Two box lunches will be provided for each business attending the event. If more are needed, they will be available for purchase for $5.00 each.

“We thank you for your participation, and look forward to seeing you on Oct. 8,” the organization said.
