NORTHERN WISCONSIN – The League of Women Voters of the Northwoods (LWVNOW) will hold numerous events in celebration of National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, Sept. 28.

“Every eligible American voter should have the option to exercise his or her right to be heard at the ballot box, and National Voter Registration Day is the right day to start by getting registered,” LWVNOW stated in a release.

LWVNOW explained that thousands of national, state, and local organizations and volunteers will be the “driving force” behind this year’s National Voter Registration Day, while partner organizations will coordinate hundreds of events nationwide, both online and in-person.

“The League of Women Voters of the Northwoods is proud to be a National Voter Registration Day partner,” LWVNOW said, adding that it will “engage our communities and register voters” at numerous area events.

While voters can register to vote online anytime at www.vote411.org, the following in-person registration events will be held:

  • Rhinelander, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Nicolet College Campus, Red Oak Center
  • Rhinelander, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., YMCA of the Northwoods
  • Minocqua, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., SaveMore

“Founded in 2012, National Voter Registration Day is designed to create an annual moment when the entire nation focuses on registering Americans to exercise their most basic right – the right to vote,” LWVNOW stated. “Nearly 4.5 million Americans have registered to vote on the holiday since the inaugural National Voter Registration Day.”
