Volleyball: Varsity, JV1 sweep Antigo

TOMAHAWK – The Tomahawk Hatchet volleyball team hosted Antigo at Hatchet Fieldhouse on Thursday, Sept. 3, where both the varsity and JV1 squads swept the Red Robins.

The varsity spikers won in three sets by scores of 25-14, 27-25, and 25-14. Meghan Scholz led the team with 11 kills and three blocks, followed by Alyssa Zehner with six kills. Samantha Gebauer led the team in digs with 10. Mackenzie Scholz led the team with four aces and finished the match with 23 assists.

The JV1 team won in three sets by scores of 25-21, 25-18, and 25-23. Caylie Swan led the team in serving with seven aces and 18 assists, Bryn Baalke led the offense with seven kills, Sadie Liebelt led the defense with 10 digs, and Cadee Benaszeski had two blocks.

The Hatchets are set to travel to Lakeland on Tuesday, Sept. 7, and they’ll be back in  Tomahawk on Thursday, Sept. 9, when Marathon comes to town. The varsity matchups begin at 7 p.m.
