Dr. Bobbi Joy Voermans

Dr. Bobbi Joy Voermans, age 43, of Tomahawk, passed away unexpectedly on July 9, 2021 at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander. She was born in Tomahawk on March 2, 1978 to William and Elaine (Callahan) Steinhafel.

Dr. Bobbi graduated from Tomahawk High School in 1996 and went on to pursue her bachelor’s degree in Biology at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, graduating in 2000. She followed her lifelong dream of becoming a chiropractor, graduating from Northwestern College of Chiropractic with her doctorate in 2003.

Dr. Bobbi began her career as a chiropractor at Howard Chiropractic Clinic in Green Bay, Wis., in 2003. She and her family relocated to Medford, Wis., in 2005, where she practiced at Allied Health Wildberg Chiropractic Office. In 2009, Dr. Bobbi returned to practice in her hometown community joining Allied Health Barr Chiropractic of Tomahawk.

She and her husband purchased Barr Chiropractic Clinic in 2016, proudly naming the clinic, “Hometown” Chiropractic. Dr. Bobbi expanded her passion to serve her community by opening a second clinic in 2018, Hometown Chiropractic in Rhinelander, Wis. She was passionate about caring for families and children. She devoted her life to improving the health and well-being of others.

Dr. Bobbi was a pillar of the Tomahawk and surrounding communities spreading sunshine with every step. She was a mentor and cheerleader to many and an inspiration to all that met her, young and old, alike. She had an infectious smile, laugh, and an optimistic exuberance about her.

Dr. Bobbi was a current board member for Kinship of Tomahawk and served on the Board of Directors for Park City Credit Union. She was an active member of the Chiropractic Society of Wisconsin. Dr. Bobbi enjoyed volunteering her time with the youth of St. Mary’s School.

Dr. Bobbi married her soulmate, love of her life and her “rock,” Grant W. Voermans, on May 22, 2004. They welcomed their first daughter, Samantha, in 2005 and their second daughter, Alicia, in 2007. Together they cherished every moment spent in the beautiful woods of Harrison, riding the ranger, taking walks, gathering sap and making maple syrup, watching wildlife and viewing the sunsets.

Surviving Dr. Bobbi are her husband, Grant; two beautiful daughters, Samantha and Alicia; her mother, Elaine (Callahan) Steinhafel; her in-laws, John and Beverly (Luse) Voermans; siblings, JoEllen (Phil) Lieck, Rhinelander; Arthur (Kathryn) Steinhafel, Raleigh, North Carolina; Peter (Rose) Steinhafel, Nekoosa; and Billie (Josh) Skubal, Rhinelander three brothers-in-law, John (Maria) Voermans, Greendale; Matt (Stacey) Voermans; and Andy (Beth) Voermans.

Dr. Bobbi is further survived by 22 nieces and nephews: Bailey (Bret), Lindsey, Ryan, Alexis, Austin (Maddie), Haley, Destinee, Laynee, Peter, Kayla, Kali, Kelsie, Khloe, Korbin, Carly, Mallory, Ashton, Ana, Avery, Drew, Adeline, and Eloise.

Auntie Bobbi loved each of them as her own and went out of her way to always make them feel special.

She was preceded in death by her father, William E. Steinhafel, maternal grandparents, James and Caryl (Bartz) Callahan and paternal grandparents, Woodrow and Genevieve (Guden) Steinhafel.

The Funeral Service for Dr. Bobbi Joy Voermans will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 16, 2021 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Harrison. Deacon Dan Towle will officiate. The family will receive friends for visitation at Generations Funeral Home in Tomahawk on Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visitation continues on Friday, July 16, 2021 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Harrison from 10 a.m. until the time of Services at 11 a.m. Burial will immediately follow services at St. Augustine Cemetery.
