According to the Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, corrections officers observed Gavin Wallmow, age 20, of Rhinelander, attempting to take his own life.

Rhinelander Fire Department medics were called, and corrections officers and medics attempted lifesaving measures, the Sheriff’s Office said. Wallmow was transported to Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander, where he was pronounced dead.
