TOMAHAWK – The City of Tomahawk Common Council during its meeting on Tuesday, July 6 gave a unanimous thumbs-up to two permit applications that had been approved by the city’s Health and Safety Committee the week prior.
The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus will be held at the SARA Park soccer fields on Monday, July 19, from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. In 2018, the circus brought its classic big top tent, clowns, acrobats, unicyclists, a high-wire performer, a lion, tigers and more to Tomahawk.
The Thunder Parade will rumble through the city on Friday, Sept. 17 during the Tomahawk Veterans Fall Ride. In previous years, upwards of 1,000 riders have taken part in the decades-long tradition.
While Tomahawk Main Street Inc. will sponsor both the Thunder Parade and downtown Fall Ride events, the City of Tomahawk has taken the reins regarding SARA Park festivities. The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) had made SARA Park its home base for Fall Ride for many years, and although MDA will not be in an on organizing role at SARA Park this year, the organization has indicated that it still intends to have a presence at Fall Ride.
The planning for Fall Ride events at SARA Park is ongoing.
