For the Tomahawk Leader

SOLON SPRINGS – The Tomahawk Hatchet golf team’s season came to a close after competing in the Regional meet held at Hidden Springs North golf course in Solon Springs, Wis., on Tuesday, June 1.

The top four teams – Lakeland (team score of 302), Northwestern (331), Rice Lake (335) and Spooner (342) – advanced to Sectionals.

Medford (352), Hayward (364), Northland Pines (366), Ashland (380), and Tomahawk (454) rounded out team scoring.

Northwestern’s Trent Meyer had the meet’s best individual score, shooting one under par with a 71 on the par 72 course.

Gavyn Palmer had Tomahawk’s top individual scorer with 107, followed by Drew Albert (113), Taje Casey (115), Drew Myers (119), and Joseph Jones (166).

End of Year Awards

Owen Dickrell had the teams’ lowest 9-hole scoring average, while Taje Casey had the most birdies.

Drew Albert was honored as Most Dedicated, and Gavyn Palmer, Drew Myers and Joseph Jones each earned the Most Improved Award.

“We steadily improved as the year went on,” coach Garth Gerstenberger said. “It was a great group of guys to work with. I am looking forward to seeing how much they improve over the summer.”
