Marvel Joyce Thomas, age 86, passed away on Oct. 8, 2020 at Morrow Home Community in Sparta, Wis.

Marvel was born on May 20, 1934 in Tomahawk to Martin and Marjorie (Schrofe) Charbarneau. She was a waitress at Pine Hills Country Club in Sheboygan for many years before moving to Colorado Springs, where she was employed at the Lettuce Head Restaurant. No matter where she worked, she was everybody’s favorite waitress. She had an interesting life, from narrowly escaping death in the 1948 Tomahawk Tornado, through raising eight children across good times and bad.

Marvel is survived by five children, Roxanne Holliday of Hemet, Calif., Cheryl (Earl) Wilsing of O’Fallon, Ill., Jacqualine (Stephen) Budgell of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Deborah (David) Hojnacki of Tomah, Wis., and Gary Thomas of North Glen, Colo.; and sisters, Elaine Pierce and Patsy (Gary) Thomas from Tomahawk. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Michael (Brandi) Derrick, Julia Johnson, Brandon (SheaLyn) Holliday, David (Heather) Wilsing, Adam (Angela) Wilsing, Matthew Thill, Mark (Kristen) Ferge, Elizabeth Minneau, Steve (Ashleigh) Campbell, Bonnie (Michael) Minnillo, Nicole Beckjordan, Kayla Hojnacki, and Kaylee Hojnacki, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Fur family members, Ziggy, Kona and Franklin held a special place in her heart. Multiple cousins, nieces, nephews, and family members were extremely close to Aunt Marvel.

Marvel was preceded in death by three children, Jack, Maurice, and Steve Campbell, four sisters, Darlene Charbarneau, June Buschmann, Bonnie Elliott, Mary Grams and two brothers, LeRoy and Eldon Charbarneau.

The Celebration of Life for Marvel Thomas will take place at 11 a.m. at the Krueger Family Funeral Home, Tomahawk, on Thursday, May 20, 2021. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Marvel will be buried in Greenwood Cemetery immediately following the service.
