Mark William Obey

Mark William Obey, 64, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2021, from cancer at Marshfield Health services in Marshfield, Wis.

He is survived by his mother, LuRae Lucia Obey, Gurnee, Ill.; sisters, Rheta Obey Sibley (Mike), Davenport, Fla., Rhonda Obey Sullivan (Mark Weigel), Elmhurst, Ill., Renee Obey Brandt, Mundelein, Ill., Roxanne Obey Avalos (Jose Moises), Round Lake Ill.; nephews, Michael Sibley (Jessica) and Cristian Avalos (Natalia); nieces, Shannen Sibley, Erin Sullivan (Mark Hamilton), Kelsey Sullivan, Selena Avalos.

Also his great-nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and many, many friends. And his beloved Nancy!

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Philip Obey; and brother-in-law, Dave Brandt; including many relatives.

Mark was an avid Cub and Packer fan, he was a comic relief and delighted children and adults with his Donald Duck impressions and other hilarious voices.

As a resident at Park Place, Marshfield, Wis., they remember him as the “Welcoming Committee,” always with a great smile and “If you need anything, let me know.”

He spent many days at the Lucia cottage on Half Moon Lake in Tomahawk, Wis., with his grandma, Lucille Lucia. He spent many hours fishing for northern pike and playing cards and Scrabble with her.

A Memorial/Celebration of Mark’s life will be held in Aug. 2021 in Tomahawk, Wis., and in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Mark’s burial expenses. Any donations and cards may be sent to Roxanne Avalos, 710 W. Jonathan Dr., Round Lake Ill., 60073.
