TOWN OF MERRILL – A Town of Merrill man died this week in an accident involving a tractor, according to a release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
On April 19, at approximately 3:48 p.m. the Lincoln County 911 Dispatch Center received a report of a person pinned underneath a tractor in the Township of Merrill.
Deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and paramedics from the Merrill Fire Department were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, emergency personnel found Jered Severt, 46, pinned underneath a tractor. He was extricated, and lifesaving measures were performed but ultimately proved unsuccessful. Severt died at the scene.
Preliminary indications suggest that there was a large truck stuck in a field, and that Severt, who was operating the tractor, was attempting to remove the stuck vehicle when the tractor overturned, and he became pinned underneath it.
The accident occurred on private property.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the incident.
Responding agencies included the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Merrill Fire Department, and the Lincoln County Coroner’s Office. The Ascension Wisconsin Spirit Air Medical Transport helicopter was also requested but later cancelled.
