Master Gardener Volunteer Week kicks off April 5

For the Tomahawk Leader

LINCOLN COUNTY – The Wisconsin Master Gardener Program will celebrate Master Gardener Volunteer Week from Monday, April 5 through Friday, April 9, according to a release from University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension Lincoln County.

“Master Gardener Volunteers are an important part of University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension Lincoln County,” the release stated. “Volunteers make a positive difference in Lincoln County lives and communities through working with residents at Pine Crest Nursing Home, growing vegetables to donate to food pantry and senior living homes, renovating native plantings to protect water quality and provide pollinator habitat, and maintaining ornamental gardens around Merrill. Through these and many more activities, Master Gardener Volunteers work tirelessly on community service projects to make Wisconsin an incredible place to live.”

Wednesday, April 7 is “Thank a Master Gardener Volunteer Day.”

“Extension wants to recognize all of our Master Gardener Volunteers for their dedication and contributions to Wisconsin,” the release said. “Join us by making a phone call, writing a note, or just saying ‘Thank you!’ to a Master Gardener Volunteer on April 7.”

To thank a local Master Gardener Volunteer, call the Extension office at 715-539-1072 or send a thank-you card to 801 N. Sales Street, Suite 101, Merrill, Wis., 54452
