Betty J. Lucas

Betty J. Lucas, 88, of Irma, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Riverview Health Services in Tomahawk.

Betty was born Feb. 14, 1933 in Waukegan, Ill., to John and Helen (Gesky) Opitz. She was married to Harold Lucas on Sept. 18, 1954. He passed away in 1988.

Betty and Harold moved to the Tomahawk area in May of 1970. They had formerly owned and operated Green Pines Bar in Skanawan for many years. Betty did medical transcription at a local chiropractor office, worked at Sacred Heart as a nurse’s assistant, and she had served as Skanawan Town Clerk for many years. Bette loved knitting and crocheting for family and friends. She enjoyed working in her yard, going for motorcycle and ATV rides, and even snowmobiling into her 80s. She enjoyed being a member of the Red Hatters and was a charter member of the Northwood’s Cruiser Classic Car club.

Survivors include her two sons, Mike (Robin) Lucas, Irma and Harold (Carol) Lucas III, Bristol, Wis.; two sisters, Janet “Cookie” Sternberg, Antioch, Ill., and Marilyn Lahti, Merrill. Betty is further survived by four grandchildren (Rebecca, Robert, Ariel, and Patrick) and three great-grandchildren (Michael, Johnathon, and Emily). She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant children, a grandson, Michael, and two siblings.

A Memorial Service for Betty Lucas will be held on Friday, April 2, 2021 at 12 p.m. from Krueger Family Funeral Home, Tomahawk. Pastor Susan Christian will officiate. The Lucas family will receive friends at Krueger Family Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until the hour of services at noon.
