William “Bill” Skees, age 85, of Tomahawk, passed away peacefully on Feb. 26, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander.
Bill was born on April 12, 1935 in Chicago, Ill., to William Sr. and Agnes (Jurasko) Skees. He was married to Anita Eileen Canan on June 25, 1966. Together, in 1971, Bill and Eileen moved to Tomahawk from the Chicago area with a dream of opening a resort. They later owned Shady Crest Resort on Lake Nokomis in Tomahawk. Bill loved to be outdoors – hunting and fishing with his boys. He enjoyed his time working on his GTO, playing pool and watching the Packers play. Bill was extremely proud of his family and spending time with them brought him joy.
Bill is survived by his wife – Anita Eileen Skees of Tomahawk; children – Kim Klein of Missouri, Donald Skees of Missouri, Karen (Mike) Noble of Missouri, William (Beth) Skees of Tomahawk, Scott (Laura Singsime) Skees of Tomahawk and James (Suzy) Skees of Tomahawk; and grandchildren – PJ, Tara, Holly, Alyssa, Ryan, Vivian, Mikey, Christopher, Nick, William, Billy, Ryan and Timothy. He is further survived by numerous great-grandchildren; sister – Judy (Ray) Penkala; and brother – Thomas Skees. Bill is preceded in death by his parents.
The Funeral Service for Bill Skees will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Krueger Family Funeral Home, Tomahawk. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Burial will immediately follow in Prairie Rapids Cemetery.
