TOMAHAWK – Residents and staff at Milestone Senior Living in Tomahawk received their first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday, Jan. 27.

Carole Mietelski, Director at Milestone, said the day was “a long time coming” and those who live and work at the facility “were all happy to participate in this monumental day in history for us.”

“Staff and residents were cheering one another on with each shot given,” Mietelski stated. “We are looking forward to our second and final dose. Now we truly have hope that better days are ahead of us.”

Residents and staff, excited to participate in such a monumental occasion, cheered each other on as the vaccines were given.

Richard Jokela was the first resident to receive a vaccine dose.

Mietelski said she wanted to thank Great Lakes Foods in Tomahawk for providing cheese and sausage trays and Walgreens in Rhinelander for administering the vaccines.

Milestone is set to receive its second vaccine doses on Thursday, Feb. 25.
