Joseph grew up in Racine and eventually moved to Tomahawk and then on to Apache Junction, creating lasting memories and friendships. Those who knew Joe and Jeanette knew that they were always together and shared a love with a depth few have the pleasure of experiencing.

Joseph and Jeanette raised three sons: Joel (Carmen) Powell of Arizona, Mark (Joanne) Powell of Tomahawk, and William Powell of Tomahawk. Surviving along with his children are siblings, Raymond Powell, Matthew (Judy) Powell, Allen (Pat) Berry; grandchildren: Jennifer (Ted) Bushar, Benjamin (Heather) Powell, Ranee’ (Jeremy) Wright, Jed (Maggie) Powell, Stephen (Nicole) Maroda, and Elicia (Anthony) Harris. Joseph is further survived by many nieces and nephews, great-grandchildren, and a great- great- grandchild.

Joseph was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister Rosemary Gildemeister. Joseph is also reunited with his beloved wife of 68 years, who passed on Oct. 18, 2020. The family is comforted knowing that they were only separated for a short while.

The family will not be holding services, but instead wish you to remember that marriage is for eternity. Joseph and Jeanette Powell remind us of the dream that true love can last a lifetime. Once couples like them let go of their bodies, spirit joins spirit and then they continue on together. Let us not be overwhelmed with grief, but rather celebrate the love they had for each other and for the heavenly father.
