Don Hoops

Don Hoops, a hard-working good man, age 77, of Tomahawk, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020, surrounded by his family. Don was born in Jackson, Ohio, on Dec. 13, 1943, to the late Troy and Myrna (Channel) Hoops.

Don was a dear and devoted husband of Lynne (Pesczek) for 52 years; proud dad and grandpa of Kellie, Kevin (Tera), and Kerry, and grandsons, Ethan and Alex. The brother of Troy (deceased) (Judy) Hoops, Cindy (Andy) Townsend, and Sylvia (Rand) Seibold; brother-in-law of Susan (Bob, deceased) Weisser, Joan (Al) Kedzierski, and Peggy Smaglik; uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Don proudly served his country as a Marine from 1963 to 1967 (17 months in Vietnam on the front lines). He was employed with Harnischfeger (Joy Global) in West Milwaukee, Wis., in the mining division for 39 years.

Don loved the great outdoors. He enjoyed boating, fishing, lawn and garden work, taking care of his little patch of woods, watching the wildlife, and doing various projects around the house and yard.

He will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to St. Mary’s School of Tomahawk.
