Ogema man dies after Town of Spirit car accident

TOWN OF SPIRIT – An Ogema man died after a single-vehicle car accident in southern Price County on Thursday, Dec. 3, according to a release from the Wisconsin State Patrol.

According to the release, the crash was reported at approximately 5:57 p.m. about a half-mile east of Strucker Road on County Road YY in the Town of Spirit.

“A 2016 Chrysler 200 Limited was traveling south on County Road YY when it failed to negotiate a curve, entered the south ditch and struck multiple trees,” the release stated. “The lone 65-year-old male driver was trapped in the vehicle and extrication equipment was used to remove him.”

The driver, Donald George Olson, of Ogema, was transported by ambulance to Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk and then flown by Spirit Air helicopter to Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

Olson was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and alcohol was not a factor.

Assisting agencies included the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Tomahawk Fire Department, Lincoln County EMS -Tomahawk, and Spirit Air Transport.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is conducting the crash investigation.
