Addison Bartz wins VFW-sponsored high school essay contest

For the Tomahawk Leader

TOMAHAWK – VFW Post and Auxiliary 2687 announced last week that Addison Bartz of Tomahawk High School took first place in the VFW-sponsored Voice of Democracy high school essay contest. The theme for this year’s contest was “Is This the Country the Founders Envisioned?”

High school students recorded their essays on flash drives. Each recording was required to be between three and five minutes long.

“Addison’s essay clearly and concisely addressed the question,” VFW Post and Auxiliary 2687 said.

Addison’s essay has been forwarded to the VFW District level. The District encompasses all the counties in northwestern Wisconsin, and VFW Posts and Auxiliaries in those counties will also be sending essay entries. If Addison’s essay is a top winner at that level, her essay will then be sent for competition at the state level.
