Tomahawk swimmers defeated in Medford

For the Tomahawk Leader

MEDFORD – The Hatchet swimmers traveled to Medford Thursday, Oct. 1 and had to get creative due to having a small team.

“Knowing we can not fill in a full roster, we mixed up our events and focused on specific aspects of events,” head coach Theresa L’Esperance stated.

The Medley relay of Johnson, Woodall, Stefan, and List all swam personal records, but the swim was only good enough for a third-place finish.

“I was extremely proud of their effort,” L’Esperance said.

Abby Jaecks won two events, the 200 and 500. She took 11 seconds off of her best 200 time for a new personal record.

“She really looked smooth,” L’Esperance noted.

Woodall also set another personal record at the end of the night with a great 100 split. Rounding out the 2nd place finish in the 400 free were Jaecks, Skubal, and Johnson.

The 200 Free Relay also took 2nd, with Woodall entering first, then Johnson, Woodall and Jaecks.

“Stefan rested from her regular distance events and gave us points in the 50 and 100 freestyle events,” L’Esperance stated. “List and Schertz continue to improve, having just begun their swimming careers.”
