TOMAHAWK – The School District of Tomahawk Board of Education during its Tuesday, Aug. 11 meeting unanimously voted to green-light a November referendum that will ask voters for $3.5 million per year for four years.
The referendum had been in the works for a few months. District Administrator Terry Reynolds said the board in May discussed the results of the School Perceptions survey, which found “favorable support” for another operational referendum.
“We then moved forward with the process,” Reynolds stated.
A mill rate increase of roughly 17 cents for the first year is expected, with the rate declining each year until the final two years are below the rate of the current referendum, according to estimates discussed by the board in May.
The current referendum, which was $3 million per year for four years, was passed in April 2017. It is set to end on June 30, 2021.
