As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, Aug. 3, 2020:

State Rd. 64 east of Merrill was closed for several hours on Tuesday evening after a power line fell across the roadway. At 6:25 p.m., a 911 call reported the line fell and a small fire had started. Traffic was re-routed until officials from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation were able to put up a detour. Crews from WPS were able to re-open the road early Wednesday morning.

A person was injured after a single-vehicle rollover crash Thursday evening in the Town of King. The driver, a Merrill man, 57, swerved to avoid several deer standing on County Rd. A near Mable Highland Drive when his vehicle left the roadway and rolled over. The passenger in the vehicle, a Merrill woman, 87, was extricated from the vehicle by Tomahawk firefighters before being transported to Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A Merrill man, 18, was arrested Friday evening on a warrant charge for disorderly conduct.

On Saturday Aug. 1, 2020 at 4:27 p.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a disturbance involving 30 students at Lincoln Hills-Copper Lake School. Deputies, with assistance of the Merrill Police Department and Troopers from the Wisconsin State Patrol, responded. Buildings within the facility were damaged and several of the youth involved had filled socks with rocks and were making threats. Deputies and other law enforcement officers were quickly able to contain the incident. In total, 15 law enforcement officers responded, ten of them from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. The majority of the units were able to clear from the facility within an hour; however, three remained until 8 p.m., when additional resources from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections arrived. No injuries were reported.

A Tripoli man, 68, was cited Sunday morning for operating a UTV while intoxicated. A deputy stopped the man on Honey Rd. near US Hwy. 8 in the Town of Somo at 12:26 a.m. After showing signs of impairment, the man was cited for operating an off road vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

A Merrill man, 19, was arrested Sunday afternoon following a disturbance in the Town of Merrill. The suspect was brought to jail and charged with misdemeanor battery and felony bail jumping.

Six people reported striking deer last week in Lincoln County.
