Medford man killed in Town of Corning ATV crash

TOWN OF CORNING – A Medford man was killed in an ATV crash in the Town of Corning last week.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call was received at 9:25 a.m. on Friday, July 31 reporting the incident. Deputies, along with Department of Natural Resources (DNR) wardens, Merrill Fire Department Ambulance, and Corning Fire and First Responders, responded to the scene on County Road M west of Tower Road, where they found the victim had been fatally injured.

Deputies and wardens believe the victim, David William Shadrick, 68, of Medford, was riding his ATV on the property on Thursday, July 30 when he struck a cable stretched across the driveway. Shadrick was pronounced dead at the scene by Lincoln County Coroner Paul C. Proulx. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The Wisconsin DNR is investigating the incident.
