TOMAHAWK – The Hatchet Pride Project is a $2.25 million effort to install a new track, new synthetic turf field, new bleachers and other facility enhancements at Hatchet Field, located at the Tomahawk School complex. The bulk of the project’s funding has come from private donors and sponsors. The Hatchet Pride Project Committee will feature a shoutout to one sponsor per week. This week, the Harley-Davidson Motor Company, a Platinum sponsor, is in the spotlight.

The Harley-Davidson Foundation, the philanthropic organization of Harley-Davidson Inc., “strives to improve the quality of life for all by targeting our charitable giving in the areas of greatest need where we have corporate and manufacturing facilities,” Harley-Davidson said.

The Foundation focuses on enabling student success, building healthy and sustainable neighborhoods and making Milwaukee, Harley-Davidson’s hometown, a vibrant community.

“We support these initiatives through monetary grants, event sponsorships, and merchandise donations,” the company stated. “Each of these signature initiatives are supported by strategic enablers that ensure we are making impactful and meaningful investments in our communities.”

The Harley-Davidson Foundation has provided grant funding to the Tomahawk community for a number of years.

“Our local charitable giving community works to understand the community’s greatest needs and direct financial support towards those programs,” the company said.

In recent years, grant support has been given to Three Rivers United Temporary Housing, the City of Tomahawk Park and Recreation Department, The Salvation Army, and Kinship of Tomahawk.

The company explained why it feels supporting the Hatchet Pride Project is important.

“The Harley-Davidson Foundation believes in making our communities vibrant places to live, work, and ride,” the company said. “We support projects and programs that ensure our communities have safe and inclusive places to come together. The Hatchet Pride Project will be a prominent destination in the Tomahawk community where students, families, and the community can connect.”
