TOMAHAWK – The deadline to make a donation to the Hatchet Pride Project and be featured on the project’s donor wall is Friday, July 31.

The Hatchet Pride Project is a $2.25 million effort to install a new track, new synthetic turf field, new bleachers and other facility enhancements at Hatchet Field, located at the Tomahawk School complex. The bulk of the project’s funding has come from private donors and sponsors.

Andy Peissig of the Hatchet Pride Project Committee outlined the different monetary amounts for donations and the levels of recognition they each bring.

“Donations of $500 or more will get their name or company listed on the donor wall,” Peissig said. “Donations of $500 to $999 will be listed at the Hatchet Backer level. Donations of $1,000 to $4,999 will be listed at the Bronze level. Donations of $5,000 to $9,999 will be listed at the Silver level. Donations of $10,000 to $24,999 will be listed at the Gold level. Donations of $25,000 or more will be listed at the Platinum level.”

Donors who contribute $10,000 or more can also be a table sponsor, which means the donor’s name will be laser-engraved into one of the project’s ten tables.

Platinum sponsors John and Mary Evans explained why they contributed to the project.

“Regardless of the dollar amount given, we as a family believe it is very important to participate and support endeavors that improve the overall quality of the communities you are part of,” they stated. “We are very fortunate to have the means to help out and chose this project because we have grandchildren in the school system, and it will have a long term positive impact on the quality of life in the area.”

Peissig said the Hatchet Pride Project is in its final stages of fundraising and is “very close” to reaching its goal.

“We would like to extend a huge thank you to all of our existing donors and encourage anyone that was contemplating donating to do so,” Peissig said. “Donations of all sizes are welcome and appreciated.”

Donations can be mailed to the Tomahawk School District in care of Hatchet Pride Project at 1048 E. Kings Rd., Tomahawk, Wis., 54487. Donations can also be made online at www.hatchetprideproject.com.
