Werner Richard ‘Rick’ Hoglund Jr.

It has pleased almighty God to summon to Himself the soul of Werner Richard (“Rick”) Hoglund Jr. on Tuesday, April 28. Rick, age 73, passed away at home in his sleep after battling several serious illnesses.

Rick was born on Oct. 31, 1946 to Werner R. Hoglund Sr. and M. Jeanette Cullifer Hoglund of Tomahawk, both of whom and sister Sharon Hoglund Johnson preceded Rick in death.

Rick is survived by his wife, Judith L. Johnson Hoglund of Summerfield, Fla., children: daughter, Therese (“Terri”) Hoglund Prior of San Francisco, son, Christopher R. Hoglund of Tomahawk, and children’s mother, Sandra Nord Hoglund of Columbus, Ga., sister, Carolyn S. Hoglund Kuhnmuench of Eagle River, grandchildren, Lucas Prior, Rachel Prior, and Marin Hoglund.

Rick graduated from Tomahawk High School, in 1965 and attended college at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Rick served in the Army 7/66 to 7/68 as Medic 11th Combat Aviation Battalion, Vietnam; he received the Vietnam Services Medal, and Army Commendation Medal for Valor.

Rick worked at Tomahawk Power & Pulp Corp. for 15 years. Property Management took Rick to Columbus, Ga.

Rick served as Commander of American Legion Post 35, Columbus, Ga., for over five years; later, he became Sr. Vice Commander Third District, American Legion, Georgia.

Upon retiring, Rick became a Member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Summerfield, Fla., where his cremains lie.

Rick’s family will be celebrating his life privately. Memorials to Grace Lutheran Church are appreciated.
