TOWN OF KING – An 18-year-old Illinois man drowned after a canoe he was in capsized on Lake Alice on Saturday, May 30, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office stated.

According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call was received at about 1:30 a.m. reporting a boater was missing after a canoe capsized on Lake Alice in the Town of King. One of the canoe’s two occupants was able to swim to shore, but the other was not immediately located.

Dive teams from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Tomahawk Fire Department, and the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. The victim’s body was located and recovered from the lake at about 8:30 a.m.

The victim, Andrew J. Adams, 18, of Champaign, Ill., was pronounced dead on the scene.

Investigation shows the incident is an accidental drowning and no other contributing factors are known, the Sheriff’s Office said.
