FOR THE TOMAHAWK LEADER

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Former State Representative and State Senator Tom Tiffany (R-Minocqua) was sworn in as the newest member of the 116th United States Congress during a short Pro Forma session of the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday, May 19.

Tiffany defeated Democrat Tricia Zunker in a special election held Tuesday, May 12. He succeeds former U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy, who resigned last September.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of northern Wisconsin,” Tiffany said in a statement. “Our country faces great challenges. I am committed to working every day to make sure our federal government clears obstacles out of the way of Wisconsinites pursuit of happiness.”

Tiffany will represent Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District until the end of the year, but will have to run again in November to defend the seat. On Monday, May 18, Zunker announced that she will challenge Tiffany in the fall.
