TOWN OF WILSON – Two Medford brothers were killed in a vehicle crash that was reported on Saturday, April 18 in the Town of Wilson, one week after the accident took place, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a motor vehicle crash on Old 8 Rd. north of US Hwy. 8 just north and west of Tomahawk. The crash was initially believed to have occurred in Oneida County that prompted units from that county to respond. When a trooper from the Wisconsin State Patrol arrived on the scene, he found the crash actually occurred on US Hwy. 8 near County Rd. CC in the Lincoln County Town of Wilson.

Initial investigation shows an SUV was traveling east on US Hwy. 8 when it left the road and rolled over. The crash is believed to have happened late on the evening of Saturday, April 11. The vehicle had left the roadway and was not visible to passing motorists. The significant snowfall last Sunday further concealed the vehicle.

Pronounced dead on the scene were Andrew B. Griffin Jr., 23, of Medford, and his brother, Elisha Benjamaine Griffin, 18, also of Medford. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene by Lincoln County Coroner Paul C. Proulx.

Both men had been reported missing to the Medford Police Department.

At this time, the investigation shows this is a traffic fatality. No other contributing factors are believed to be involved.

Agencies assisting at the scene included Wisconsin State Patrol, Oneida County Sheriff, Nokomis Fire Department, Little Rice Fire Department, Oneida County Med 4, and the Lincoln County Coroner’s Office.

The deaths are the second and third on Lincoln County roadways this year.
