As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, April 13:

A Merrill woman, 16, was cited Tuesday evening after a deputy investigated a theft complaint. Contact was made with the woman after she posted a video showing road signs including a sign for County Rd. G, an ATV speed limit sign, and a sign promoting Crime Stoppers of Lincoln County. An anonymous tip about the video was received by Crime Stoppers.

A Merrill woman, 18, was injured after a one-vehicle rollover Wednesday evening in the Town of Corning on State Rd. 64 near Hagar City Rd. at 5:20 p.m. The driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected.

A Gleason man, 40, was arrested Friday afternoon on felony charges after deputies investigated an abuse complaint in the Town of Russell. The man was taken into custody on two counts of physical abuse of a child and a charge of strangulation/suffocation.

A Merrill man, 59, was injured after an ATV crash Saturday evening in the Town of Merrill on Hillcrest Drive at 8:39 p.m. Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash.

Deputies arrested a Hatley man, 51, on Saturday evening after investigating a reckless driver on US Hwy. 51 south of Irma around 10 p.m. He was placed through field sobriety tests and arrested for a third offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Deputies arrested a Weston man, 30, Sunday morning after a traffic stop for speeding 90 MPH on US Hwy. 51 in the Town of Merrill. The man was placed through field sobriety tests and arrested for a second offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He was also charged with one misdemeanor and two felony counts of bail jumping and held for violating the terms of his probation.

Roads in Lincoln County were very hazardous Monday morning as crews worked to clear the snow that fell Sunday into Monday. Deputies on the overnight shift kept busy with vehicles sliding off the road or getting stuck. In total, deputies investigated about a dozen incidents involving vehicles and the snow storm. The major roadways in the county had at least one pass by a plow by 6 a.m., but increasing winds caused considerable blowing and drifting snow.

Only two people reported striking deer this past week. A Merrill man reported striking a bear on Saturday morning on State Rd. 17 near County Rd. CCC north of Gleason. This was the first bear strike reported in 2020.
