RECONNECTING PARADE

The parking lot at Tomahawk Elementary was filled with onlookers and a long line of participants taking part in a special parade held Thursday to reunite teachers and students one month after schools across the state were closed due to the coronavirus. First grade teacher Amanda Shepherd helped organize the parade that traveled through the community using personal vehicles to adhere to social distancing and parents and students were encouraged to come out to curbside to wave and help reconnect at a distance. One spectator noted the number of teachers taking part was bigger than the Thunder Parade that takes place each year during the Tomahawk Fall Ride for MDA. Many of the vehicles were decorated with positive signs reminding students they are missed and to continue reading during the school closure.
