City of Tomahawk officials announce closures in light of COVID-19

In light of the COVID-19 outbreak in Wisconsin, the City of Tomahawk is taking the following precaution to limit face-to-face activities and promote social distancing in order to help slow the spread of the COVID-10.

The City of Tomahawk has made these changes after reviewing information and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, and the Lincoln County Health Department.

Tomahawk City Hall will be closed to the public starting March 16.  We are looking to eliminate the potential exposure at city buildings to protect city staff and the general public.  This will also help us maintain our ability to continue providing essential city services.  Please call the respective departments in lieu of coming to a particular department to learn what alternate options there are to conduct business over the phone, email or fax.  Please call if you need to make an appointment to absentee vote in-person. 715-453-4040.

Tomahawk Senior Center will be closed to non-essential public gatherings starting, Tuesday, March 16, 2020 to prevent the spread of the virus among our most vulnerable population.  This closure is until further notice.  On site and meals have been discontinued as of March 16, 2020.  Meals on Wheels will continue at this time, please call 715-536-0311 for more information or visit their web site.   Aging and Disability Resource Center of Lincoln County.

Municipal Court is closed to public traffic but can be reached by phone or email at 715-539-3714.

All Park and Recreation programs have been canceled.  This includes all activities at SARA Park.

Event cancellation for any event that has been expected to have an attendance of 50 people or more.  The City of Tomahawk is encouraging other organizations to also cancel events of that magnitude.

Absentee voting via mail is highly encouraged to avoid face-to-face contact at the polls on Election Day, which is April 7, 2020.  f you haven’t registered to vote yet, you can do so online at myvote.wi.gov by March 18, 2020.  Absentee requests can be made online at the same time.

City Meetings.  Non-essential city meetings will be canceled until further notice.

In addition to these changes, all work-related travel for the City of Tomahawk employees outside of Lincoln County has been postponed or canceled.
