FOR THE TOMAHAWK LEADER

RHINELANDER – The National Weather Service Storm Spotter Class scheduled for March 17 at the Oneida County Law Enforcement Center in Rhinelander has been cancelled due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, said Dawn Robinson of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.

“The National Weather Service will offer online alternative arrangements for their storm spotter classes this season,” Robinson stated. “CDC guidance continues to suggest that social distancing can be effective at limiting the overall spread of the virus. Therefore, the National Weather Service will need to protect attendees and their employees by providing the spotter training via remote means.”

Robinson said the National Weather Service will provide a pre-recorded presentation and links to the Skywarn Web Training Material at www.weather.gov/grb/skywarn. The training material will serve as a supplement and could help keep track of individuals that have taken the training.

“Please visit the National Weather Service/Green Bay Office webpage to learn more,” Robinson said.
