TOMAHAWK – As part of Taher Food Service’s Farm to School program, Tomahawk High School’s culinary class prepared elk stew and served free samples during lunch in the middle and high schools on Thursday, Feb. 27.

The class, taught by Allison Solum, used elk provided by Birch Ranch in Merrill, said Tomahawk School District Food Service Director Dustin Tessmer.

Leonard and Diane Witscheber founded River Birch Ranch in 2000 and raise award-winning elk from farm to fork.
