TOMAHAWK – A basic computer skills class will be offered by Nicolet College’s Academic Success program at the Tomahawk Public Library, 300 W. Lincoln Ave., Tomahawk. Six sessions will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. every Wednesday from Feb. 19 to April 1.

“We will be covering the ‘need to knows’ of computer hardware and software, downloading, internet use and safety, emailing (including setting up an account), attachments, photos, Skype and Facetime, as well as very basic Microsoft Word,” said instructor Cathy Schmit. “There will be time for questions during all of the classes.”

Schmit added that if there is enough interest in the registered group, one class will be specifically dedicated to learning about smart phones.

The class will be run in the same format as last year’s class, which saw over 20 people sign up.

“People are welcome to take it again as a review or come for the first time,” Schmit said.

The cost of the class is just $4.50 for the registration fees. Computers will be provided for participants who do not have a laptop to bring in, Schmit stated. Seniors are welcome and encouraged to attend.

There are only 20 spots available for the class, Schmit said. Those interested in registering are asked to contact the Nicolet Academic Success Program at 715-365-4455 or [email protected].
